Legacy Giving

Legacy Giving

Legacy gifts can transform neighbors helping neighbors from aspiration to reality, through an enduring connection with your community. These thoughtful gifts may be directed to specific efforts, such as special grants to address emergencies, or annual financial support for the Chest’s member agencies.Your legacy gift can also equip the Williamstown Community Chest to serve our community now and in the future.

1. Leave a Gift in Your Will

A charitable bequest is a simple and flexible way to support the community and may provide valuable tax savings to your estate. You can create a bequest of any dollar amount, or designate a percentage of your estate in your will or trust plan. The flexible gift option can be revised at any time. Sample language is provided below.

2. Beneficiary Designation

You can name the Williamstown Community Chest as a charitable beneficiary of your assets, such as a retirement plan, IRA, life insurance policy, bank account or donor-advised fund (DAF). A charitable beneficiary designation is completely separate from your will, does not require the services of an attorney, and can be revised at any time. Simply request, and revise, your beneficiary designation form from your plan administrator. See below for specific information you will need to complete the form. Learn more.

3. Marketable Securities

Donating appreciated securities may be more beneficial than donating cash because, in addition to receiving a charitable deduction, you could avoid capital gains tax on the sale of the appreciated stock. Please note, it is the policy of the Williamstown Community Chest to sell all marketable securities promptly upon receipt. Learn more.
