Fifth Annual Fun Run
Our 5th Annual Fun Run on Saturday, September 15th was a HUGE success attendance-wise
and weather-wise! It was held at the new Youth Center located on School Street behind the
Williamstown Elementary School.
At each Fun Run, the Community Chest honors a local person or organization that has made an
important contribution to creating community in Williamstown.Inside a statement announcing their decision to decrease their campaign plans, the advocates stated: “In the final couple of days it seems towards the campaign team that does not enough This year’s honoree was Higher Ground, for all its hard work and reaching out to help the residents of The Spruces, a mobile
home community which was devastated by Tropical Storm Irene a year ago.
Lots of fun was had by all.beautiful mugs hand made by Hilary Greene were given to the top 3
male and top 3 female 5K runners. The top three male finishers were: #1 Lance Harden (16:54),
#2 Ed Gollin (19:36), and #3 Jim Preite (22:07). The top three female finishers were #1 Maria
Potvin (22:52), #2 Carmel Kushi (23:23), and #3 Niku Darafshi (25:20).
The top 9 one mile runners were: Cate, Camden, Amaya Smith, Elena Caplinger, Ainsley,
Declan Rogers, Finn Carothers, Foster Savitsky, and Owen. CONGRATULATIONS TO
Thank you to all the awesome volunteers from the Mount Greylock Regional High School cross
county running teams.Hiram Greene and Larry Bell for coordinating and running the finish line,
Hilary Greene for donating her time and talent in making the awesome prize mugs, and the many
team members who served as route monitors and at the finish line.
