Celebrate #GivingTuesday with Sand for Seniors
Celebrate Generosity Around the World – Giving Tuesday, November 28
The Williamstown Community Chest encourages community members to begin the Season of Giving with a gift of time, money, goods or voice.
Tuesday, November 28—after Black Friday, Shop Small Saturday, and Cyber Monday!—marks the sixth year of #GivingTuesday, when individuals across the nation are encouraged to use the occasion to promote a cause that is meaningful to them.
The Williamstown Community Chest will once again recognize the day with its “Sand for Seniors” project. Working in cooperation with Aubuchon Hardware in Williamstown and the Williamstown Council on Aging, the Community Chest is distributing one-gallon pails of sand to area residents in anticipation of slippery steps and walkways in the winter months ahead. Please contact the Williamstown Community Chest at 413-458-2443 or the Council on Aging at 413-458-8250 to request a pail of sand. Refills for last year’s “Sand for Seniors” distribution are also available by calling either of the above numbers.
Founded in 1927, the Williamstown Community Chest is committed to raising and distributing funds for seventeen area human service agencies that help our neighbors in need. Its annual campaign is now underway, with a goal of $260,000. All contributions are returned directly to the community because administrative costs are covered by past bequests. The organization recently relocated to 84 Spring Street (next to The Log) in Williamstown.
